When nutritional companies attempt to sell a product they typically cite one study in support of the product. This, therefore, creates opportunities for product misselling with customers purchasing items that have little or minimum value. At Strength-Physiology.Online we provide the sports scientist, strength and conditioning coach or enthusiasts with stronger evidence in which to be better informed. We include evidence from meta-analyses. These studies play a fundamental role in evidence-based healthcare. Compared to other study designs (such as randomised controlled trials or cohort studies), the meta-analysis comes in at the top of the evidence-based medicine pyramid (Figure 1 ). This is a pyramid which enables us to weigh up the different levels of evidence available to us. As we go up the pyramid, each level of evidence is less subject to bias than the level below it. Therefore, meta-analyses can be seen as the pinnacle of evidence-based medicine.
